Bill Evans, Eddie Gomez, Alex Riel w. Monica Zetterlund

Recorded in Copenhagen Oct. 1966

How far away it all seems. These diamonds flowed like a river back then, and in America almost no one cared.

If you haven't played this incredibly addictive game yet, you are in for a treat. It is one of my favorite games of 2008, and not there are more levels and better controls. If nothing else it's just so beautiful to watch. Would be great if you could play against others online, and also see others playing in real time, via a screensaver.

The full version is the culmination of over 7 months work resulting in an incredible 70 plus levels spread across 15 acts.

Now with new Controls that can change both the speed and direction of any particle they encounter.

A few more tings I forgot to post last week,

First up this bouncy tune from Royksopp, "Happy Up Here" from "Junior"

Director: Reuben Sutherland
Production Company: Joyrider

Then comes this catchy-but-very-fucking-twisted-and-dark video from our old friends DM, "Wrong" from the album "Sounds Of The Universe". (Released April 20th, 2009 - UK , April 21st, 2009 -USA). I don't know where Dave and Martin have been hanging latetly, but man...

Happy Birthday Bleep

Having launched our brand new beta site with a taster of some of the "Best of Bleep" picks, we have now unveiled all of our Top 5 Charts with Thom Yorke, Steve Beckett, Mr Oizo, Nathan Fake, and Zomby amongst others picking their all-time favourite releases from Bleep...

My Bleep (or more specifically Warp) Top 5 would be:

LFO - Frequencies
Sweet Exorcist - CCCD
A Guy Called Gerald - Voodoo Ray
Polygon Window - Surfing On Sine Waves
Squarepusher - Big Loada

Of course there are many many many more, and I am sure I forgot something seminal, but these set my brain on fire for sure.

New Squarepusher is shipping October 27th, and is out now on Bleep. It's a little YMO, a little Jaco fusion, Segovia, Can, modal improv, and tightest garage band you ever heard, with all the tweaks you would expect from the Squarepusher moniker.

So apparently the newest latest thing to do on YouTube is to just drop straight tracks... nothing new, but it's getting more and more common to a point were it could ineveitably be the new LastFM kinda...

Here we have an example of this ... the banging little DJ sneak classic "Fix My Sink".

can i get an amen?

 Category: music
Posted: 2006-06-06 16:57, Edited: 2006-06-06 19:57

http://archive.pxlpark.com/upload/popup_amen_thumbs.jpg

MKE sent me this super amaizing video of the history of the 'Amen' sample that virtualy every d&b album on the planet, and a shit load of hip hop too, has sampled, resampled and obfuscated into oblivion.

On top of the great history of the Amen sample that launched a thousand ships, is a key point to the future of creativity and culture itself. A great, and nescesaary, sell for the idea of Creative Commons in general.

Can I Get An Amen? is an audio installation that unfolds a critical perspective of perhaps the most sampled drum beat in the history of recorded music, the Amen Break. It begins with the pop track Amen Brother by 60's soul band The Winstons, and traces the transformation of their drum solo from its original context as part of a 'B' side vinyl single into its use as a key aural ingredient in contemporary cultural expression...

If your in Miami march 23-26....

 Category: music
Posted: 2006-03-13 23:45, Edited: 2006-03-14 02:45

The your a bleeding sellout. Well kinda...

M3 is back again, and it's gona waaaay down, I'd say an all time low. Still a few interesting people like DJ Krush, DJ Hell. Not all bad for $99 bucks. And remix hotel is allways a lot of fun for gear boffins.

Some damned weird sponsers though, like XM Radio, Target, Cirque du Soleil Musique ??, and MySpace of course.

My favorite line... "The only gathering in the united states to merge modern music, technology, fashion, and multimedia art as an intergral lifestyle"... or at least the only one stupid enough to say that. Yeah we have something like that on saturdays, it's called PS1.

We used to call this party back in the day "Beach Blanket Blow Fest" for all the blow you would consume while trying not to drown.

Blow baby Blow.

http://archive.pxlpark.com/upload/telex.gif

My ole' mate MKE turned me on to the Telex podcast last week, probably some of the funniest interviews I have ever heard, on par with the Christopher Guest and Ricky Gervais interview in Dazed a few months back.

After a 20 year shopping spree, Telex are back on point with a new album with a little old and a little new, but always identifiably Telex.

Have a look here and watch the first interview with Telex talking about smurfs, shopping, and the eurovision song contest...

Thanks Mike !

SynthPop Heaven at YouTube

I've been over at YouTube the past few days looking for the Grammy Clip from the early 80's of Thomas, Stevie, Herbie, and Howard playing their synth showcase here... Only to discover that there are TONS of videos from the synthpop yester year like YMO, Thomas Dolby, Art of Noise, Sandii & The Sansetz, and Telex to name a few (and even Laid Back by White Horse?!?).

Have a look here , and prepare to see many vids you probably knew the songs of, but never saw the vids for! I would check it soon, cuz i know this stuff just somehow gots to be illlegal. I do however, wish I could dl the damned things (hacking it out now).

Nighmares on Wax Game/Album Preview

 Category: music
Posted: 2006-03-04 15:54, Edited: 2006-03-04 18:54

Just got an interesting email today from Warp Rekkids... promoting NOW's "in a space outta sound". Definetly the album revisits some of their more dub roots, along with the usual suspects, mellow rhodes and late night moods.

Interesting idea on how people are promoting albums. Never a fan of gimmicks like this really, but it is clever and as far as I can remember (which isn't saying much) this is the first promotion like this. At least that is, for music that isn't total pop shit.

And apparently you get "Free Custom 'Cigarette' Rolling Papers" with this release, which gives you some ideas as to what activities you will be participating in while enjoying the rekkid...

Check out the game and the album, currently on presale (what ever the hell that means) will be sent in time for release on 20th March here.
