4D Watch

under the Must Have category, a watch, this prototype mock up by the russian group- playoff, (pa ruski) is really one of the nicest LED watch designs I have ever seen. Let's hope it gets made some day.

I have been meaning to post these since like forever... CineFile, the most excellent blog/shop for esoteric video (think Kim's on the left coast) have created these incredible Tees that play with everyone's favorite classic rock/thrash bands, and everyone's favorite classic directors.

My personal favorite is the Ozu / Ozzy design which is quite surrealistically mind bending to think of these two people in the same room. Though Iron Bergman is pretty funny too.

If i am not mistaken, I think you can pick up some of these at IFC in Manhattan.

peter saville vs dc shoes = wicked camo

Not sure what jedi forrest this camo would 'come handy in, perhaps some nether region where all squirrels sing like Ian Curtis, but it's none the less the pattern of the year in my book. well done. The "dazzle ships" is the absolute must have of the year, while the JD cover will make you the total envy of mexico city 13 yr olds from coast to coast.

DC Shoes and Peter Saville connect for a 2009 Winter Collection. The clothing and the snowboards feature two different patterns, the “Contour” graphic is a 3-D rendering of the Joy Division cover, Unknown Pleasures, featuring a collapsed star’s radio waves. While the second graphic, Hazard, is featured on DC’s limited edition snowboard collection. The yellow and black pattern was inspired by the OMD “dazzle Ships” album cover and the industrial warning stripes painted across the dance floor of Manchester’s Hacienda nightclub, owned by members of New Order. Both are available at select DC distributors worldwide.

I was just speaking to a co-worker not hours before I found this watch, about how long it would be before some one created and open source platform to create custom designed interfaces for watches, similar to the Virtual Instruments /DSP machines used for VSTi plugins.

This is a pretty amazing and clean little watch.

It's easy to see that within the next 5 or so years, many "designers" will be out of a job once all the blipsters start creating their own custom designs for just about every interface they come across, from their AppleTV to their Toasters.

Have a look

TB-303 Bass Bag

For those who remember the Synch 2004 MPC bag, I posted last May, the 2006 version bag is everyone's favorite, the TR303, complete with a circuit board cd case that slips inside.

Synch presents for its 2006 edition the new Music Machine bag. Following the Sampler Bag, the new Bass Bag transforms one of the most influential synthesizers in the history of electronic music to one multi bag which contains 2 easily removable CD cases -the synth’s circuits.

i've never been a big fan of the MPC series for the musically challenged, but i have to admit it beats the hell out of the sonar bags.
