Chunky Move - Mortal Engine

 Category: anarchy
Posted: 2009-03-27 00:25, Edited: 2009-03-27 03:25

Chunky Move from Australia are one of the most amazing dance troops I have seen in modern dance since the first day I discovered sankai juku and pilobolus in the 80s. It is so beautiful/haunting/intoxicating, that I can't wait for them to come to NYC.

from the site:
Mortal Engine is a new dance-video-music-laser performance using movement and sound responsive projections to portray an ever-shifting, shimmering world in which the limits of the human body are an illusion. Crackling light and staining shadows represent the most perfect or sinister of souls. Kinetic energy fluidly metamorphoses from the human figure into light image, into sound and back again. Choreography is focused on movement of unformed beings in an unfamiliar landscape searching to connect and evolve in a constant state of becoming. Veering between moments of exquisite cosmological perfection and grotesque evolutionary accidents of existence, we are driven forward by the reality of permanent change.

Daft Punk vs. Tron 2.0

 Category: anarchy
Posted: 2009-03-05 22:38, Edited: 2009-03-06 01:38

http://archive.pxlpark.com/upload/daftron.jpg

This just in from Mr. Chicken.... Billboard confirms that Daft Punk will indeed compose the score for the film, which they report is called TR2N. Billboard goes on to say the electronic duo is planning to record the music at their studio in L.A. Yet, a publicist at Daft Punk's label would not confirm the project, referring to it as a "rumor" even after the Billboard story.

Well true or not, it's a pretty damned interesting idea. I'm pretty agit against remakes in general, Get Carter and The Thomas Crown Affair where unmitigated epic disasters,... now comes Barbarella and Tron. What next, 2001, Blade Runner, or perhaps THX-1138 with Vin Diesel , maybe Brazil staring Ashton Kutcher and Paris Hilton?

But at least, DP will add an interesting and I am sure quite respectful view to Tron, being that they are pretty serious movie buffs, and well, they dress like they are extras already...

Holy Giblets... A 5 CD Hunter S Thompson Box Set

 Category: anarchy
Posted: 2008-10-02 02:48, Edited: 2008-10-02 05:48

The world will just not be the same without Hunter. Thompson, but when you are awake at 5:38am, like hunter typically was, this set will be the next bast thing to getting a call from Hunter when you least expected it.

http://archive.pxlpark.com/upload/gonzo_set.jpg

Recorded by Hunter S. Thompson between 1965 and 1975, these tapes capture his thoughts and descriptions both as they're happening and in reflection, as he would often go back to rerecord commentary while writing.

The Gonzo Tapes features original cover artwork by Gonzo artist Ralph Steadman, an amazing 44-page booklet full of never-before-seen images from Hunter S. Thompson's estate, along with memorable photos and an introduction by film director Alex Gibney, an essay by journalist and Thompson's fellow foreign correspondent Loren Jenkins, and notes by The Gonzo Tapes producer Don Fleming, former front man of the Velvet Monkeys and Gumball who has produced Sonic Youth, Alice Cooper, Hole, and more.

This set will be released on October 28, 2008

Also out November 18th is Gonzo: The Life and Work of Dr. Hunter S. Thompson

http://archive.pxlpark.com/upload/gonzo_movie.jpg

A fast moving, wildly entertaining documentary with an iconic soundtrack, the film addresses the major touchstones in Thompson s life from his intense and ill fated relationship with the Hell s Angels, to the notorious story behind the landmark Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, his deep involvement in Senator George McGovern s 1972 presidential campaign, and much more.

Tactical Landscaping and Terrain Deformation oh my!

Fun new weapon in Fracture that lets you transmogrify the terrain in real time.

While it looks fun, it does seem like it could get a bit monotonous in short order. It would be way more interesting if they let you program what physics are affected with different physics based ammo. For instance, if you had a 30 second gravity release bomb, or a light shifting bomb that altered the way light bends for a few seconds...

The gravity one is something i used to do whenever I ran the HL server in the office, and let me tell you there is nothing more fun then watching someone shoot the BFG and get thrown in to the air.

Interactive Architectural Action In Tokyo

Leave it to Tokyo to be the first to actually have actual tangible interactive architecture, even if only demi-façades. Ping Mag have a good little guide to check out the newest latest.

After watching the Final Final ... Final Cut of Blade Runner last week, it seems ole Syd will likely want yet another cut to update his future with a tad more interactivity (and a lot less Fresnel lenses...).

While none of this is particularly new, it is by far the largest scale to date with such fun.

Now if they could attach a cell tower to it and have the data stream aggregate affect the colors, that would be complete madness...

1000 fluorescent tubes will flicker into life along the River Goyt to celebrate Connect2 on Thursday 27th September.

Powered only by the electromagnetic fields surrounding the power lines running through the Estate, the art installation aims to bring visibility to the scheme.

Hot Damn Vietnam... The Green Fairy is back in black thanks to Mr. Breaux... It's the real deal ladies and gentleman.

The bottle design even has a nod to Le Chat Noir, the 19th century Paris cabaret... hang out of Claude Debussy, Erik Satie, and many other names of 19th century art scene.

Introducing lucid, Absinthe Supérieure.

lucid represents a breakthrough product for the U.S. market, as it is the first true, Grande Wormwood-based Absinthe of its type since before prohibition. Unlike imitators in the U.S. and many of the so-called "Absinthe" products that litter the international markets, lucid is crafted directly from select whole herbs, including Grande Wormwood, and never from cheaper assemblages, macerations, extracts or oils.
